The next Australian UFC star could be right around the corner with sources close to From The Stands confirming that Australian Women’s Flyweight Lisa Kyriacou (7-1) has signed to compete on the ‘Road To UFC’ series, on May 19 where she’ll be taking on Chinese fighter, Qihui Yan (24-4).

The budding Aussie will have her first fight since July of 2023 which saw her defeat Nat Jaroonsak on ONE Championship’s ‘One Friday Night Fights 26’. Kyriacou is looking to put on a dominate performance on May 19 with aspirations of fighting at UFC 305 in Perth, August 18th potentially hanging in the balance.

Her opponent Qihui Yan will no doubt be a tough test. Yan previously competed on Dana Whites Contender Series losing to Karine Silva during season 5 of the show.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with From The Stands Kyriacou detailed how pleasing it was to be competing on the ‘Road To UFC’

“I’ve been offered to fight on ‘Road To UFC’ which is absolutely amazing. I’ve been dying for an opportunity to fight for a UFC contract and this is the way I get that contract. So yeah super excited, so happy just over the moon”

If Kyriacou is later signed by the UFC, she’d become the next in a long list of Australian talent picked up by the organisation. She would join the likes of UFC lightweight Tom Nolan and UFC flyweight title challenger Stephen Erceg to sign with the company within the last year.

No doubt a huge opportunity awaits Kyriacou as she looks to assert herself as a force to be reckon with, within the UFC stratosphere.
